PERICARDIUM, VERTEBRAL ARTERY AND CAROTID SINUS: Cerebrovascular Circulation (BCVT 3) with Michael Shea

January 18-21, 2018
Austin, TX (by Lake Travis)
$595

This course will explore the deep development of the central structures of the cardiovascular system especially the heart and brain. Students will learn a new cerebrovascular circulation protocol combined with work on the carotid sinus with Primary Respiration. Palpation skills will include deeper work with the carotid arteries, vertebral artery and the carotid sinus. These skills are vital in r the embodied wholeness of the central, autonomic and cardiovascular systems.

This course will expand upon the role of biodynamic craniosacral therapy by working with the cardiovascular system to ensure optimal recovery from impact trauma to the heart and trunk of the body. Research has shown that even a minor concussion, fall or impact to the trunk of the body can cause long-term health problems because of the heart and pericardium experiences a type of whiplash. This causes an imbalance in intra-thoracic pressures and possibly affecting blood pressure.

Biodynamic Cardiovascular Therapy supports a sense of wholeness through the body, and attention on the cardiovascular system changes brain function especially the way deep emotions are processed. The heart-brain connection will be taught. Students learn to palpate the different embryological derivatives in and around the heart, including abdomen, thorax and neck, which will lead to changes in the brain over time.

-Learning to balance the diaphragm-lungs-pericardium and left ventricle of the heart
-Contacting the developmental movement of the heart and vascular system
-Practicing a new cerebrovascular drainage protocol
-Exploring contact with the baroreceptors of the aorta and neck
