Biodynamics I - Oceans in the Air

The myriad forms of life in nature are being breathed into existence from moment to moment. This life-giving breath can be directly experienced with the senses as directional movement and creative intent. These biodynamic forces govern the development of form and function in the embryo, and maintain cohesiveness throughout the life of an organism. The emerging field of biodynamics has initiated a paradigm shift for craniosacral therapy, allowing practitioners to assess the developmental and therapeutic priorities of the body with greater precision.

The first class of the advanced certification training begins with a thorough elaboration of the principles of biodynamic movement. Primary Respiration is introduced as natural phenomenon, intelligent therapeutic partner, and divine presence. Students are taught a set of core perceptual and relational skills to ground their exploration of Primary Respiration in the fluid field. Embryology comes to the forefront of our concerns as we examine how our bodies are formed from a single fluid-filled egg.

Key biodynamic concepts such as relational touch, the midline, fulcrums, stillpoints, the wholistic shift, potency, perceptual zones, and the inherent treatment plan are explored. Cross-cultural understanding of Primary Respiration is also a major point of discussion.

Prerequisites:
Professional licensure in a relevant therapeutic field. New students may start with this class.
